Corporal Louis Thompson Honored

What a thrill to see one of the 19 World War II veterans profiled in my upcoming book honored today.

Late last year, the Governor of Georgia Elect’s office asked for nominations from the community of highly decorated Georgia veterans to be honored guests at Governor Kemp’s inauguration. I nominated Corporal Louis Thompson, who I had come to know over the last several months as I captured his story. Not only was he selected, but he also was asked to lead the pledge of allegiance for the inauguration ceremony.

You’ll have to wait to read the whole story, but it’s obvious why Louis was selected: He served in the China-Burma-India theater flying over 1,000 missions to supply troops on the ground. He received five Distinguished Flying Crosses, five Air Medals, and a Bronze Star, among other medals.
